What's the difference between thermoplastic and thermoset Poly Chips?
Thermoset chips are first created by mixing resin, filler (ATH), pigment, and often times another ingredient such as mica together to form a matrix. Once mixed, the matrix is poured and cast into a solid sheet. This thermoset sheet is then ground into desired chip sizes.
Thermoplastic begins as a plastic and is heated to a liquid state. Pigment is added to create a desired color. Once pellets of thermoplastic chips are cooled, they are ground to either a 18 or 36 mesh chip size. Thermoplastic chips can be recycled if needed.
